  1. Use the Find window to make either a basic or detailed search. This window expands for a detailed search, and collapses for a basic search.

  3. Basic Find Options
  4. Find field: Type the text that you want to find.
  5.  
  6. More button: Click to expand the Find window, for options allowing a more detailed search.
  7.  
  8. Find button: Click to begin the search. If Now Contact finds Contacts that match your criteria, the found Contacts replace the List View's current contents.

  10. Detailed Find Options
  11. Select fields to search scrolling list: Choose the fields you want to search for the specified text.

  13. Comparison pop-up menu: Choose the criteria to determine how to match the text. The matching options are:

  15. •    exactly matches: contains exactly the text you type, with no extra or missing characters.
  16.  
  17. •    starts with: starts with the text you type.
  18.  
  19. •    ends with: ends with the text you type.
  20.  
  21. •    contains: contains at least the text you type.
  22.  
  23. •    doesn't contain: doesn't contain the text you type.
  24.  
  25. •    contains anything: contains something. NOTE: The text field disappears when you select this option.
  26.  
  27. •    contains nothing: is empty. NOTE: The text field disappears when you select this option.
  28.  
  29. •    is less than: is less than the text you type, either alphabetically or numerically.

  31. •    is greater than: is greater than the text you type, either alphabetically or numerically.
  32.  
  33. •    is less than or equal to: is less than or equal to the text you type, either alphabetically or numerically.
  34.  
  35. •    is greater than or equal to: is greater than or equal to the text you type, either alphabetically or numerically.

  37. •    is between: is between the text you type in the first text field and the text you type in the second text field. The second field appears when you select this option.

  39. Find this field: Type the text that you want to find.

  41. Where to search area:
  42. Contact File radio button: Click to search the entire Contact File for matches.
  43.  
  44. Within List radio button: Click to limit the search to the Contacts displayed in the List View. Useful when you've already performed one search and want to narrow down the found list.

  46. What to do area:
  47. Replace List radio button: Click to replace the Contacts displayed in the List View with the found Contacts.
  48.  
  49. Add to List radio button: Click to add the found Contacts to the Contacts displayed in the List View.
  50.  
  51. Omit from List radio button: Click to omit any Contacts matching the search criteria displayed in the List View from the List View. NOTE: They won't be deleted from your Contact File.

  53. Less button: Click to collapse the Find window, allowing a basic search. 
  54.  
  55. Defaults button: Click to tailor the Find to your needs. Opens the Finding Preferences pane.
  56.  
  57. Find button: Click to begin the search. If Now Contact finds Contacts that match your criteria, the found Contacts replace the List View's current contents.
